Why do I need to be added to a waiting list to buy a watch?
– As a small and independent brand, we produce watches in rather small batches – up to 20-30 pieces per month. We never allow any part of our manufacturing process to be outsourced, since our goal is to provide the best possible quality of the product. Lately, the number of orders has surpassed our manufacturing capacities and due to that reason we decided to randomly pick customers from the waiting list every month.
Why is the price of your watch constantly increasing?
– The price for each of our products increases by $1 every day. Unlike other manufacturers, we don't change prices whenever we want, so our customers know exactly how much our products will cost at any time.
How long have you been in business?
– Gelfman AG was established on 12 November 2014. Since then, we have been working on design, engineering and manufacturing of the products which are now available for purchase on our website. The process of testing and debugging was the most time-consuming, but it's crucial for us, because it helps reduce potential problems in the future.
Where are your watches manufactured, and how?
- We perform all the design work and engineering in Switzerland. It's very helpful that we have contractors with a long history in watchmaking business. In-house manufacturing and assembling is performed in Russia. Huge thanks to Konstantin Chaykin, a famous Russian independent watchmaker, who has been a great help to us as a consultant.
Why are your products more expensive than other nixie watches?
– Production cost of the IN-16 Nixie's case, manufactured to meet the highest quality standards, is higher than the most expensive nixie wristwatches on the market. As for the hardware that we use in our watches – it is way more complex than those of our watchmaker friends, since our watches can be connected to a computer and they work on our own software which can be remotely updated and, finally, they offer many more exclusive functions. All these factors affect the final price.

– Unfortunately our stock is very limited and we don't have enough products to work with dealers.
How many employees do you have?
– We have 8 employees working in our company at the moment.
Functioning of the watch
How often do I need to recharge my watch?
– It hugely depends on the settings and how often you turn the watch on to tell the time. We ran some tests and established that in average our watch needs to be recharged every 5 days.
Is the watch case scratch-resistant?
– Our watch cases are produced from the most scratch-resistant steel (some of the versions also have a 3-ply PVD coating), so their durability meets the highest watch manufacturing standards and is as good as the one offered by the top brands.
Is the watch crystal resistant to scratches too?
– The crystal has a sapphire coating which ranks 9-10 on the Mohs hardness scale, which means that it has a great scratch-resistance. The crystal is also provided with an anti-glare coating, so you could tell the time in direct sunlight.
What type of the charging cable do you offer together with your watches?
– We use our in-house designed magnetic charging cable similar to Apple MagSafe. It has a USB type A connector.
Can I turn my watch on planes?
– Yes, you can. Our nixie watches don't create any disturbances for the communications during the flight, although they attract great interest when you go through security screening at the airport.
Can I set the time on my watch without plugging it into a computer?
– Yes, you can.
How long will nixie tubes in your watches last?
– According to the manufacturer, our nixie tubes have more than 5,000 hours of life time. Since nixie tubes in our watches are not permanently kept turned on and are only shining for about 5 minutes a day on average, they should last for 150 years. Please note that as with any other product, some of the nixie tubes can be faulty, that's why we test every watch before sale within a month. In any case, if you experience any problems with our nixie tubes within the warranty period, we will replace them free of charge.

If the watch becomes available for purchase on your website, will I be notified by email?
– Yes, if there is a watch available for sale after you were added to the waiting list, you'll receive an email from us with information about how to order the watch and a link to various payment options.
What payment options are available?
- Payments are accepted via credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Unionpay) or wire transfer.
How long will it take for my order to be dispatched once the payment is received?
– Once your payment is received and goes through a high risk processing, your order will be shipped within 5 working days.
How will my order ship?
– All orders are shipped from Switzerland by any suitable delivery company.
Where do you ship to?
– We ship worldwide, except for the countries which are restricted for all carriers shipping out of Switzerland.
Who pays for shipping?
– Customers pay for shipping at checkout.
Is there a shipping insurance?
– Yes, the shipping insurance option is available, this is to be further discussed with a delivery company.
Do I have to pay import duties?
- Most nations outside the EU charge customs duties when importing goods. If there appears to be any additional customs duty or import taxes of your country, you'll need to pay them when you receive the goods.
How can I track my parcel?
- As soon as your order is ready to be shipped out we will send you a shipment confirmation email with the delivery information and a link to track your order online.
How can I cancel my order?
- All cancellations must be requested within 24 hours of placing your order. If you would like to cancel your order, please email us at info@gelfman.ch
How can I return my order?
– Please note that we only accept returns of damaged or defective products. Customer requests for return are discussed on a case-by-case basis.
What currencies do you accept?
– Prices on our website are quoted in CHF, USD, EUR and GBP, and you're free to choose any currency you like. If you choose to pay with another currency, the price will be converted according to your card issuer's own exchange rate, and the final price can be slightly different from ours.
Do you accept payments in crypto currency?
– Yes, we totally support crypto!
Warranty & Maintenance
Is there a manufacturer warranty?
– Yes, there is a 1-year manufacturer's warranty from the day of purchase on all watches we offer.
How do I request warranty service?
– You can request warranty service by contacting us via info@gelfman.ch. If your issue cannot be resolved remotely, you will need to ship the watch to our office for maintenance. All warranty repairs are performed by us free of charge.
What happens if a nixie tube burns out, is it covered by warranty?
– Yes, if a nixie tube burns out within the warranty period, we will replace it, given that it hasn't experienced any impacts.
Is there a post-warranty maintenance?
– Yes, you can send us your watch for maintenance even after the warranty period expires. All maintenance will be performed at cost price, since we value our customers.
Can I buy a new strap or change the watch case?
– Yes, you can, we have a variety of spare parts for maintenance in stock.
